Who we are. Benjamin & Isaac Accountants is a trading name of Benjamin and Isaac Tax Consultants Ltd, registered in Scotland, company number SC743340, registered office 50 Darnley Street, Glasgow G41 2SE. We are the data controller.

Contact us about your information by email at hello@benjaminandisaac.co.uk, or by post to the address above.

What we collect. From the enquiry form on this site: your name, email address, telephone number, business type, and anything you write in the message box. If you become a client, we also collect the identity documents, financial records and tax references we need in order to act for you, and — where we run your payroll — information about your employees. We must see identity documents before we can act. If you cannot provide them, we cannot act for you.

Why, and our lawful basis. To answer your enquiry, under our legitimate interests. To provide the services you engage us for and to collect our fees, under our contract with you. To carry out identity and anti-money-laundering checks, to file with HMRC and Companies House, and to keep records afterwards, under legal obligations.

Who we share it with. HMRC and Companies House where you have authorised us to act; our IT suppliers, who hold information on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes; our bank; and the authorities where the law requires. Under money-laundering law we may be required to make a report and may be prevented from telling you. We do not sell your information.

Outside the UK. We have branch offices in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, so information relating to UK work may be handled by our staff there. Neither country has been assessed by the UK as offering an equivalent standard of data protection. Our overseas offices follow the same rules, access UK-hosted systems remotely rather than holding local copies, and are bound by written confidentiality obligations. If you would prefer your file handled only from the UK, ask us.

How long we keep it. Client, accounting and anti-money-laundering records for six years from the end of our relationship, as the law requires. Enquiries that do not become engagements, twelve months.

Cookies. This site uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. One functional cookie is set by our hosting so that times display correctly. It does not identify you.

Your rights. You can ask for a copy of your information, or a portable copy, or ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, or object to our using it. Where the law requires us to keep something we cannot delete it, and we will tell you why. Write to us at the email or postal address above. We reply within one month.

Complaints. Tell us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
